Jailer Review

After the global success of recent Telugu films, The respect and expectations for South Indian Cinema have also been raised. Super Star Rajinikanth has established himself as the best actor in South Indian Film Industry. Any film that features him is definitely a hit. Now the sensational director Nelson has paired with Rajinikanth, the expectations for this film are really high. One such film is ‘Jailer’.

Story:

Tiger Muthuvel Pandian AKA Muthu (Rajinikanth) works as a jailer and lives happily with his wife Vijaya (Ramyakrishna) son Arjun (Vasant Krishna) and grandson. Arjun is an honest policeman. Arjun, who is the Assistant Commissioner of Police, takes up a high-profile case. He investigates deeply the gang of idol thieves. During this, He received threats from unknown sources. But Arjun will not give up on this case. But, once Arjun gets kidnapped. Police investigation reveals that Arjun is dead. This made Muthu depressed. He takes steps to take revenge by killing those who killed his son. Villain Varma (Vinayakan) wants to kill the entire Muthu family. How did he protect his family from Varma? Also, how did he take revenge on them? What did Muthu come to know in the idol theft case? Did his son actually dead? Why Narasimha (Shivaraj Kumar), Mathew (Mohanlal), Blast Mohan (Sunil), and Kamna (Tamannah) are in the situations? You can know all of these when you watch the film.

Analysis:

There should be novelty in the story. But, for senior heroes and star heroes, it is not enough to have only the novelty in the story. That hero should have a mass elevation scene. Earlier In an interview, Rajamouli’s father Vijayendra Prasad said about Pawan Kalyan, “He doesn’t need an extraordinary story. Just his signature walk, A few songs in between..fights with villains are enough to make the film blockbuster hit.” This is not just for Pawan Kalyan… this applies to almost all star heroes.

It is very clear that Nelson also strongly believed in this. While making the story interesting, he showed exactly how fans wanted to see the super star, Rajinikanth. Nelson was 100 percent successful in this. In fact, Nelson showed his trademark style while showing the comedy angle in Rajinikanth. It shows how much Nelson learned from Beast Disaster. He didn’t repeat the mistakes he made in Beast.

In the first half, Yogi Babu and Rajinikanth duo and the comedy scenes worked out well. The audience who enjoyed the comedy angle in Rajinikanth till then will soon see the superstar style, mass elevation scenes. Taking the story in an interesting way and putting the elevation scenes that the fans want in the middle, made it feel a bit lag. In addition to this, music. The background score that comes every time Rajinikanth appears on the screen is really extra ordinary.

With the pre-interval scene, expectations for the second half will increase in a huge rate. It is understood that the entire story is in the second half and there is a lot to see. Actually the first half is filmed to just introduce the characters. The whole story starts in the second half. It can be said that the movie is minus to some extent. Nelson made small mistakes in order to show the whole story. Where does the story go? Where is the hero going? There is a little confusion, as well as some kind of lag.

And he showed the two characters that are needed in the story Narasimha, Mathew in an appreciable way. Shivaraj Kumar played Narasimha and Mohan Lal played Mathew. If they couldn’t have played these roles, it would have been a big minus for the movie. Nelson was successful in portraying Shivraj Kumar and Mohanlal at their best. But, Sunil and Tamannaah were not shown properly. There is no significant role to these characters in the film. It seems that Tamannaah was roped in only for the item song Kavalaiya…. If Sunil and Tamannaah were given the roles properly, the film would have been more successful.

When it comes to performance, there is nothing special about Rajinikanth. His mark acting is abundant in the movie. Ramya Krishna acted at her best. Vinayakan’s acting is good. But, a bit of Tamil Nativity is visible. Also the camera performance and build values are good. Also, the movie has a great back ground score and music by anirudh and Anirudh has once again shown what he is capable of.

Plus Points:

Rajinikanth’s heroism
First half , pre-interval, climax
Story, Screenplay
Music
Shivraj Kumar & Mohanlal

Minus points
A bit of a lag in the second half
Sunil and Tamanna roles

On total..
Superstar is back
