Mrunal Thakur to speak on hunam trafficking at the United Nations panel

Mrunal Thakur

Mrunal Thakur, who played a sexual trafficking victim in Love Sonia, will speak at a United Nations conference on the human cost of conflict-related sexual abuse.

She will take part in a panel discussion titled “The Human Cost of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence” at the UN Headquarters in New York later this month. The actress will join foreign delegates and subject-area experts on the panel.

The Sita Raman actress, recognized for her dramatic roles in films such as Love Sonia, which puts attention on the harsh realities of human trafficking, will participate in the panel electronically. The actress is now in India, where she is promoting her forthcoming film, The Family Star.

The panel will look at the global context and impact of sexual violence in conflict zones, especially its linkages to human trafficking. Given her representation of the tragic experiences of trafficking victims in Love Sonia, the actress’s presence lends great weight to the conversation.

Mrunal will join the panel with notable speakers Masha Efrosinina, Fawzia Koofi, Cohav Elkayam Levy, Meaza Gebremedhin, and Areig Elhagwill. The event promises to provide a venue for meaningful global dialogue and advocacy.
