All We Imagine As Light was announced as the Grand Prix winner by Japanese filmmaker Kore-eda Hirokazu. The victory marked a monumental moment for Indian cinema, as it was the first time in three decades that an Indian film had competed in the Main Competition section at Cannes. Divya Prabha, who plays Anu, a young nurse in the film, was deeply moved by the audience’s standing ovation and the recognition the film received.
Overwhelming Emotions at Cannes
Reflecting on the experience, Divya described it as overwhelming and surreal. “To be frank, I am still processing it,” she said. The celebration following the premiere was filled with joy and camaraderie. “There was a party at a RestoBar. We all hugged each other, laughed, and cried,” she recalled. The hotel where they stayed even gave the team small gifts, including keychains shaped like a pressure cooker, a prop from the film, adding a personal touch to their celebration.
