Suman stated, “A lot of stupid people are fussing and obsessing over it, talking about it and questioning the historical accuracy and authenticity and chronology.” He emphasized that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for creating dystopian sagas and unique cinematic worlds, and that Heeramandi should be seen as an artistic interpretation rather than a documentary.
Suman also pointed out that some critics from Pakistan have expressed jealousy over the production of Heeramandi. He remarked, “There are some people of the neighbouring country who are feeling very jealous about the fact ki inhone kyu bana dia? Bhai aap bana lete and why are you even discussing our Heeramandi? We don’t discuss your films. We don’t even know whether you make films.”
