Farah Khan Reveals She Earned More Than Shah Rukh Khan on Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa!. Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan recently shared an interesting tidbit about her experience working with Shah Rukh Khan on the film “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.” In an interview, she reflected on their first meeting and the financial constraints they faced during the production.

A Frugal Production

“Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,” directed by Kundan Shah, was a low-budget film. Farah Khan, who was new to the industry at the time, recalled how she instantly hit it off with Shah Rukh Khan. Despite her initial fear due to his brash and arrogant image from an interview, they became fast friends. They bonded over shared interests, books, and a similar sense of humor.

During the shoot, the budget was tight, and the production team couldn’t afford to hire an assistant for Farah. Shah Rukh stepped in to help her out. He was paid a mere Rs 25,000 for his role in the film. However, Farah revealed that she was the highest-paid person on the project. She received Rs 5,000 per song, and since there were six songs, her total payment amounted to Rs 30,000.

The Song “Aana Mere Pyar Ko”: To cut costs, the team cast regular people from Goa as extras in the song “Aana Mere Pyar Ko.” However, these non-professional extras had no idea how to take cues or hit their marks. Farah shared an amusing detail: Shah Rukh would pinch them turn by turn as a cue for them to rise up from behind a wall during the song sequence.

A Lasting Friendship

Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s friendship endured beyond “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.” Farah went on to direct Shah Rukh in three successful films: “Main Hoon Na,” “Om Shanti Om,” and “Happy New Year.” Although they had a period of not being on speaking terms in the late 2000s and early 2010s, they eventually reconciled.
