Alia Bhatt Expands Ed-a-Mamma with Children’s Books
Alia Bhatt, who turned entrepreneur with her kids’ wear brand Ed-a-Mamma in 2020, is all set to launch the first in a series of children’s picture books. This new venture marks another milestone for Alia, as she steps into the world of publishing.
Ed Finds A Home: The First Book in the Series
The first book in the series is titled “Ed Finds A Home.” This children’s picture book series focuses on inspiring love for nature in the coming generation. The series represents Ed-a-Mamma’s initial foray into publishing, in collaboration with Puffin, an imprint of Penguin Random House India.
Alia’s Instagram Announcement
Alia shared the exciting news on Instagram, posting a Reel where she can be seen smiling with animated characters of a girl and a dog popping up around her. The text “A new Ed-venture awaits” appears on the screen. Her caption reads, “Friends, we have something in store for you (smile emoji) #StayTuned Until then, book your tickets for StoryVerse happening on the 15th and 16th of June.”
Launch Event at StoryVerse Festival
Alia will launch “Ed Finds A Home” at the children’s literature festival, StoryVerse. The event will take place at Jio World Drive in Mumbai on June 16.
Ed-a-Mamma: From Clothing to Publishing
Alia founded Ed-a-Mamma in 2020, offering children’s wear, teens’ wear, and maternity wear. In 2022, Reliance Brands, a subsidiary of Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Retail, acquired Ed-a-Mamma for a reported ₹300-350 crore, according to The Economic Times.
Alia’s Production Ventures
In addition to her entrepreneurial ventures, Alia owns Eternal Sunshine Productions, which produced her streaming debut, Jasmeet K Reen’s 2022 dark comedy “Darlings,” released on Netflix India. She is also co-producing Vasan Bala’s upcoming escape drama “Jigra” with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
