Rajkummar Rao Talks Playing THIS Freedom Fighter Biopic and His Preferred Film Genre. In an exclusive Pinkvilla Masterclass, Rajkummar Rao, celebrated for his versatile performances in Bollywood, revealed his deep admiration for the Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Known for his roles in Kai Po Che, Gangs Of Wasseypur 2, Newton, Trapped, Aligarh, Omerta, and Bareilly Ki Barfi, Rajkummar expressed a strong desire to portray Bhagat Singh on screen.
A Biopic of Dreams
Rajkummar shared that Bhagat Singh has been a significant source of inspiration for him since childhood. “I have always been fascinated with Bhagat Singh. Since I was a kid, since I got to know about him, I read a lot on him,” he said. His passion for the revolutionary is evident as he spoke about wanting to bring Bhagat Singh’s story to life in a unique way. “So I think Bhagat Singh is somebody who inspires me, in life also, and I think just to portray his life on screen, something which is not being seen before, would be very exciting I feel,” Rajkummar added.
A Romantic at Heart
In the same interview, Rajkummar also expressed his interest in starring in intense romantic films. Despite his diverse filmography, which includes social dramas and comedies, he feels that an intense romantic movie is a genre he hasn’t explored yet. When asked about this, he excitedly said, “I’m a die-hard romantic at heart. I’m all up for it.”
Admiration for Shah Rukh Khan
Rajkummar didn’t shy away from expressing his admiration for Bollywood’s king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan. He praised SRK, saying, “Shah Rukh sir has been the epitome of romance for us.” Rajkummar grew up watching Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic romantic movies and believes that SRK is the master of this genre. He expressed his desire to star in great romantic films, much like SRK did throughout his career.
