Ten Consecutive Failures: The Downfall of Taapsee Pannu

Ten Consecutive Failures: The Downfall of Taapsee Pannu. Despite her undeniable talent, Taapsee Pannu has faced a challenging phase in her career with a series of box office failures. Known for her powerful performances and unconventional roles, Pannu’s recent projects, even those involving top stars and acclaimed directors, have struggled to make a mark.

The streak of underperforming films began with “Thappad” in 2020, directed by Anubhav Sinha. Although the film received critical acclaim for its bold subject matter and Pannu’s performance, it did not perform well commercially. This marked the beginning of a series of disappointments for the actress.

Subsequent Disappointments

Following “Thappad,” Pannu starred in “Rashmi Rocket,” a sports drama that failed to resonate with audiences. The film’s lackluster reception was followed by “Loop Lapeta,” a remake of the German film “Run Lola Run,” which also did not meet expectations. “Shabaash Mithu,” a biographical sports film about cricketer Mithali Raj, was another addition to the list of flops, despite Pannu’s earnest portrayal of the cricketing legend.

The trend continued with “Dobaara,” a mystery thriller directed by Anurag Kashyap, which failed to captivate the audience. “Tadka,” a romantic comedy, and “Blur,” a psychological thriller, also did not fare well at the box office, further extending Pannu’s streak of unsuccessful films.

Mixed Success on OTT Platforms

Even though her Netflix film, “Haseen Dillruba,” attracted a significant number of views. The reviews were mixed, and it did not achieve the critical acclaim or commercial success that was anticipated. Her most ambitious project to date, “Dunki.” Starring Shah Rukh Khan and directed by the legendary Rajkumar Hirani, also fell short of the high expectations set by previous blockbusters like “Pathaan” and “Jawan.”

The Sequel Struggles

Downfall of Taapsee Pannu: Recently, the sequel to “Haseen Dillruba,” titled “Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba,” was released on Netflix. Unfortunately, the reviews for this sequel have been quite negative. While the original “Haseen Dillruba” benefited from being one of the few OTT options available at the time. Which contributed to its success on Netflix, the sequel faces a much more competitive streaming market. With a flood of new content available, “Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba”. It is unlikely to make a significant impact, even if initial viewership numbers appear promising.
