‘It Ends With Us’ Breaks ‘A Star Is Born’ record at the box office

After ‘A Star Is Born’ in 2018, ‘It Ends With Us’ became the global box office’s second highest-grossing romantic drama of the past ten years.

‘It Ends With Us’ is the film version of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling book with the same title.  A month after it debuted in theatres throughout the globe, the Blake Lively-starring movie surpassed the 2014 love drama The Fault in Our Stars to accomplish the amazing achievement.

‘It Ends With Us’ achievements

In its first weekend of release, It Ends With Us brought in $50 million, swiftly surpassing the box office receipts of Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) and Greta Gerwig’s Oscar-winning Little Women.

Thirty days following its theatrical debut, the movie brought in $310 million worldwide. It surpassed the 20th Century Fox’s 2014 romantic drama The Fault in Our Stars, $307.2 million to become the second highest-grossing romantic drama of the decade. The highest-grossing movie in the category, A Star is Born (2018), was nominated for an Oscar and made $436.4 million worldwide.

Additionally, It Ends With Us made more money at the box office than a number of female-focused movies from the previous ten years, such as Anyone But You ($220.2 million), Crazy Rich Asians ($239.3 million), and Me Before You ($208.4 million), a romantic drama from 2016.

At the international box office, the movie has made 12 times more money than its $25 million budget. At the domestic box office, it is currently $8 million short of hitting the $150 million mark. If the movie keeps doing well—it made around $500K on Tuesday, September 10, 2024—it will hit the milestone before the theatrical run comes to an end.

With such success, it’s no surprise that producers are eager to start working on the sequel, “It Starts With Us,” which is based on Hoover’s 2022 follow-up novel. The sequel, “It Starts With Us,” picks up a few months after the events of the first film. Unfortunatelly the Sequel in Jeopardy Due to recent Co-Star Conflict.
