Kangana’s Financial Crisis: Reveals Why She Sold Her ₹32 Crore Mumbai Office. Bollywood actress and filmmaker Kangana Ranaut recently opened up about the financial difficulties that led her to sell her ₹32 crore office in Mumbai’s upscale Pali Hill area. The property, purchased for ₹20 crore in 2017, had served as the headquarters for her production company, Manikarnika Films, since 2019.

Kangana’s Financial Crisis

In 2020, the office faced partial demolition by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) due to alleged structural violations. Although Kangana felt she deserved compensation, she chose not to pursue it, citing her unwillingness to use taxpayers’ money. Recently, she acquired a new office space in Andheri for ₹1.56 crore.

Kangana’s financial woes were exacerbated by the delayed release of her film, “Emergency,” a political thriller which she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Scheduled for release on September 6, the film’s certification was withdrawn following objections from a Sikh group, leaving Kangana in a precarious financial position.

Lack of Industry Support

Kangana expressed her disappointment with the lack of support from both the film industry and political opposition. She contrasted her situation with that of other films like Deepika Padukone’s “Padmaavat” and Alia Bhatt’s “Udta Punjab.” Which faced similar censorship issues but received substantial backing. “There were threats to chop off someone’s nose, someone’s neck, but the government protected them, and they were released,” she noted. In contrast, she felt abandoned by both the industry and the Congress party.

Kangana’s frustration was evident as she described feeling isolated and unsupported. “The film industry is celebrating that my self-financed film didn’t release. I am in the loneliest corner of the world,” she lamented. Despite the challenges, Kangana remains determined to see “Emergency” released. With only fellow filmmaker Varun Grover publicly criticizing the stalling of her film. Kangana’s experience highlights the need for a more supportive environment for creative professionals facing such challenges.
