Chavez get sentenced on April 2, with Free on a $50,000 bond. He could spend ten years behind bars. He has agreed to give up his medical license immediately and has turned up his passport, according to the BBC.

Chavez, who operated a ketamine clinic, admitted as much in his plea deal, which was published by many news sites. He claimed to sold the drug to Dr. Salvador Plasencia, suspected by federal officials of subsequently giving it to Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s live-in aide.

On October 28, 2023, Iwamasa was the first to find the Friends actor’s lifeless body in a hot tub. In the case, Plasencia has entered not guilty pleas to many counts. However Iwamasa has previously entered guilty pleas to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine that causes death. Five suspects were prosecuted by the federal authorities: Chavez, Plasencia, Iwamasa, Jasveen Sangha (called the “Ketamine Queen” by prosecutors), and Erik Fleming, a friend of Perry’s.

Sangha is accused of one count of conspiracy to distribute the drug in question, one count of maintaining a drug-related establishment, five counts of distribution of ketamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and one more count of possession with intent to distribute ketamine. To every charge, she has entered a not guilty plea. Fleming, is accused of serving as a go-between for Sangha and Iwamasa when they were buying 50 vials of ketamine.

Working as Chandler Bing on sitcom Friends, which starred Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Perry battled addiction for many years. The ten-season popular show started in 1994 and ended in 2004.
