Chiranjeevi doesn’t consider Bollywood as Indian cinema? Recently, Chiranjeevi stated that he used to be offended by the way South Indian movies were portrayed nationally.

Megastar Chiranjeevi recently had a special Fireside Chat with Rajeev Masand for Aha’s South Indian Film Festival. Chiranjeevi is getting up for the release of Vishwambhara. The actor disclosed in the interview how he got offended by the way South Asian films were portrayed in the Indian film industry. Chiranjeevi described an incident that happened after he received an invitation to a national film festival.

The Indra actor said, “high-tea event,” and he saw pictures of the late Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, and other great performers. Nevertheless, everything he was able to see there were the images of Tamil actor MGR and Kannada actor Rajkumar.

Chiranjeevi expressed his disappointment and said, “I felt bad that photos of our very own NT Rama Rao garu and Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, and even Sivaji Ganesan sir weren’t there.” The mega actor added, “I was furious and insulted. I did films like Pratibha and Aaj ka Gundaraj to prove the potential of South cinema.”

In discussing the growth of the Telugu cinema industry, Chiranjeevi gave SS Rajamouli credit for putting the region on the map. “Telugu cinema has risen sky high, and I will attribute it to SS Rajamouli. He has taken over Telugu cinema to the international level. He has brought all films under one roof of Indian cinema,” the actor said.

For the success of South Indian films, Chiranjeevi also gave credit to Prashanth Neel, Rishab Shetty, Sukumar, Atlee, and a number of other people.

On the work front, Chiranjeevi is working on Vishwambhara. The movie releases in theaters on January 10, 2025. Meenakshi Chaudhary, Trisha Krishnan, and others will play significant roles in the film. As for the Vishwambhara crew, Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani has joined as the music composer.
