National Film Awards 2024 : The much anticipated prestigious National Film Awards ceremony is now taking place at Vigyan Bhawan.
President Droupadi Murmu presents honors to personalities such as Rishab Shetty, Mani Ratnam, and more. In a conversation with Doordarshan National actor Rishab Shetty conveyed his excitement about his major accomplishment.
The Kantara actor said, “I am very happy. Not one, we have won two awards, making the moment even more joyful.” He went on to say that Kantara is a movie about the fight between humans and nature, and that more regional means more global.
For those who are unfamiliar with the news , Kantara won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment while Rishab Shetty bagged the Best Actor award for his performance in the movie.

Kantara is action thriller film written and directed by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under Hombale Films starring Rishab Shetty in a dual role with Kambala champion who is at loggerheads with an upright forest officer, Murali .
The film was released on 30 September 2022 without any expectation to critical acclaim and soon became an Pan Indian blockbuster. It was made with an estimated budget of Rs 16 crore and grossed more than Rs 450 crore.
Along with Rishab Shetty, Tamil renowned filmmaker Mani Ratnam walked the red carpet ahead of the 70th National Film Awards event. His film Ponniyin Selvan garnered numerous accolades, including Best Sound Design (Anand Krishnamoorthi), Best Cinematography (Ravi Varman), Best Tamil Feature Film, and Best Music Direction – Background Music (AR Rahman).
Sandalwood have bagged seven awards in the 70th National Film Awards for the year 2022.
