Alia Bhatt’s “Jigra” Registers Her Worst Box Office Opening in a Decade. The most awaited film Jigra finally came into theatres, Featuring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina Jigra has opened its collections with a good start. Directed by critically acclaimed filmaker Vasan Bala Jigra collected Rs 4.25 crore on its first day. Jigra marks Alia Bhatt’s first theatrical release of 2024 and Her second film into production under Eternal Sunshine Productions.

Tough Competition

Though Jigra had a decent start, there’s high competition from significant Releases. On the same day of Jigra, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video was released on the same day giving tough competition with the star cast of Rajkumar Rao and Triptri Dimri. The film opened its box office collections ₹6.50 crore. On the other hand, Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan was also released on the 10th of October 2024. The box office collections on its opening day stand at Rs 110 Crores.

Despite the lacklustre start, Jigra saw some improvement over the weekend, earning ₹6.50 crore on its second day. However, it still trails behind its competitors and has a long way to go to recover its production costs. The Dussehra festival did help to draw in more viewers, but the film’s overall performance remained underwhelming.

Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra features a gripping storyline but has not managed to garner the expected audience traction. Reviews have been mixed, with critics appreciating Alia Bhatt’s performance but finding the film lacking in other aspects. This mixed reception has also contributed to the film’s slow start.

Future Prospects
