With support from Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan signified Superstar Rajinikanth’s big-screen comeback following the release of last year’s All-Time Blockbuster, Jailer. The police drama has made an incredible debut in Tamil Nadu, grossing between Rs 19 and Rs 20 crore. This is the second-best opening of 2024, behind Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT.
Vettaiyan kicked off with a strong start, earning approximately ₹110 crore worldwide in its first two days. Despite a minor dip on the second day, the film stood high by adding another ₹35 crore on day three. The total domestic collection now stands at about ₹145 crore. on the fourth day, Rajinikanth starrer collected Rs 22.25 crore. Vettaiyan is running successfully in theatres with exceptional box office performance.
Competition For Vettaiyan
The film’s limited release may have contributed to its underwhelming results in the Hindi belt. Furthermore, it would be up against fierce competition since Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video have released on 11th of october. But None of them seem to be a competition for Vettaiyan.
For 3 days Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video box office collections stands at Rs 16.75 crore and Rs 18.65 crore respectively. Where as the over all collections of Rajinikanth starrer stands at Rs160 crore at global box office. Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan continues to hold tight at the box office, earning close to ₹160 crore in just four days. The positive reviews and audience response will definitely make Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan a commercial hit.
