The much anticipated Indian franchise sequel films NTR’s War 2 and Rishabh Shetty Kantara : Chapter 1 makers are reported to be released on the same day.
However, Indian trade experts suggest that releasing them so close to each other could affect box office collections, and a four-week gap between releases would be ideal to avoid competition and theater availability issues.
Two major pan India films, War 2 and Kantara : Chapter 1 , are set for release in August 2025, both aiming for big box-office numbers. Ever since the announcement the hype for the film’s skyrocketed and August box office 2025 is going to be a massive hit.
War 2 serves as a direct sequel to War directed by Siddharth Anand from Yash Raj Franchise Spy Universe . The film stars Hrithik Roshan and NTR in the lead roles, alongside Vaani Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Anupriya Goenka, Dipannita Sharma, Sanjeev Vatsa, Mashhoor Amrohi, Yash Raaj Singh, Arif Zakaria and Mohit Chauhan. The action film marks JR.NTR Bollywood debut.

While the much anticipated Kannada film, Kantara: Chapter 1 serves as direct prequel to 2022 blockbuster film Kantara . The period action thriller stars Rishab Shetty, Sapthami Gowda Kishore , Achyuth Kumar, ishore as Murali, a Deputy Range Forest Officer (D.R.F.O), Achyuth Kumar , Prakash Thuminad , Manasi Sudhir ,Naveen D Padil , Suchan Shetty, Swaraj Shetty , Deepak Rai Panaaje ,Shanil Guru . It is set during the reign of Kadambas of Banavasi written and directed by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur.
A source revealed that both films, Kantara: Chapter 1 directed and starred by Rishab and Shetty War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR, is set for worldwide release on August 14, 2025. So the August , 2025 box office is going to a massive hit.
