Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Beats Baahubali

Kalki 2898 AD shows no signs of slowing down, even after selling over 2 crore tickets within its first week. This remarkable footfall indicates the film’s widespread appreciation among audiences.

However, the journey doesn’t end here, as the film aims for even greater milestones in the coming days. Entering its second weekend, the film is expected to gain even more momentum, surpassing previous records, including Baahubali: The Beginning at the Indian box office.

Record-Breaking Start and Strong Momentum

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD had an explosive opening in India, earning over 90 crores and narrowly missing the 100-crore mark. Like many major event films, it saw a slight drop initially, but the strength of its content helped it maintain impressive momentum throughout the week. The film’s continued success highlights its compelling narrative and strong audience engagement.

Surge in Box Office Collections Amid NEET Bandh

Despite the ongoing NEET crisis and a student-led bandh yesterday, Kalki 2898 AD experienced a surge in box office collections. The Telugu regions, in particular, saw increased attendance, resulting in higher earnings compared to Wednesday. According to early estimates, the film earned 24 crores on its eighth day, bringing the total estimated earnings to 423 crores net (across all languages) in its extended opening week of eight days.

Entering the Top 10 Highest-Grossing Indian Films

With this impressive total, Kalki 2898 AD has entered the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films of all time at the Indian box office. It surpassed the lifetime collections of Salaar (407 crores), 2.0 (408 crores), and Baahubali: The Beginning (418 crores), securing the 8th spot on the list. This achievement also pushed Prabhas’ own Salaar out of the top 10, underscoring Kalki 2898 AD‘s monumental success.

Eyes Set on Higher Targets

The next major target for Kalki 2898 AD is to surpass the 525.50 crores mark set by Gadar 2, which seems achievable. It will be intriguing to see if the film can also surpass the collections of Pathaan (543.22 crores) and Animal (554 crores). As Kalki 2898 AD continues its successful run, all eyes will be on its performance in the coming weeks to see if it can climb even higher in the box office rankings.
