The GOAT Box Office: Fourth Biggest Grosser Now

The GOAT Box Office – Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, is receiving widespread acclaim for his action drama Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Despite the initial success, the film is experiencing a slowdown as it enters its second week at the box office. Released on September 5, GOAT earned an estimated ₹6.50 crore on September 16, bringing its total net earnings in India to approximately ₹219.75 crore.

The film saw a significant drop in collections on its second Monday, compared to the ₹15 crore it earned on Sunday, September 15. On that Sunday, the movie garnered ₹13.85 crore from its Tamil version, ₹1 crore from the Hindi version, and ₹0.15 crore from the Telugu version.

The GOAT Box Office and Occupancy Rates

On Monday, September 16, GOAT had an overall occupancy rate of 32.84% for its Tamil version and 11.77% for its Hindi version. Major cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Lucknow saw significant audience turnout. The film has crossed the box office collections of Vikram, making it the fourth biggest Indian film in Tamil Nadu. It is now chasing the collections of Jailer, PS-I, and Leo. GOAT is also performing steadily in Karnataka and North India. There is potential for GOAT to surpass Leo in the Hindi-speaking regions if it maintains its current performance levels. However, the film has underperformed in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

About the Movie

The movie revolves around a field agent and spy who has successfully completed over 65 operations in his career. The trailer hints at Vijay playing a double role, portraying both a father and son. GOAT is described as a period science fiction film, with a storyline that promises action, drama, and intrigue. The supporting cast, including Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Sneha, Ajmal Ameer, Vaibhav, Laila, Mohan, Aravind Akash, and Ajay Raj, adds depth to the narrative, taking sides with either the hero or the villain.

Audience Expectations

Despite the current slowdown, Thalapathy Vijay‘s GOAT continues to attract audiences, particularly in Tamil Nadu and other key regions. The film’s performance in the Hindi belts could improve if it sustains its momentum. Both GOAT and Leo faced challenges due to the 8-week digital release clause, which affected their release in top national chains for the Hindi version.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, GOAT features an ensemble cast including Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Sneha, and Meenakshii.
