VIjay Sethupathi Maharaja Box Office Beats Merry Christmas

Kollywood is celebrating yet another box office triumph as Vijay Sethupathi’s latest film, “Maharaja,” garners impressive earnings worldwide. Over the years, Sethupathi has built a substantial fan base not only in India but also internationally, which is significantly contributing to the film’s success. This achievement comes at a crucial time for the Tamil film industry, helping to sustain the positive momentum generated by recent hits.

Strong Opening and Positive Reception for “Maharaja”

Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, “Maharaja” premiered globally on June 14th to widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike. The film’s favorable reviews and word-of-mouth buzz have translated into robust ticket sales. The film started strong during its opening weekend and benefitted further from the Bakri Eid holiday on Monday, resulting in a powerful performance over the extended weekend.

Impressive Weekend Box Office Numbers

“Maharaja” began its box office journey with a collection of 4.70 crores on its opening day. The momentum continued to build, with Saturday’s earnings jumping to 7.75 crores and Sunday seeing another increase with a collection of 9.40 crores. The Bakri Eid holiday on Monday provided an additional boost, contributing 6.40 crores to the film’s total, bringing the four-day Indian box office total to 28.25 crores.

Sustained Performance Through Extended Weekend

Following the extended weekend, “Maharaja” was anticipated to experience a drop in daily earnings, which is typical after a holiday boost. However, the film maintained a strong performance, collecting 3.69 crores on the fourth day. This represents a 21% drop from the opening day’s 4.70 crores, a decline considered normal, indicating steady audience interest and support for the film during weekdays.

Five-Day Maharaja Box Office

By the end of its five-day theatrical run, “Maharaja” had accumulated an estimated 31.94 crores net at the Indian box office. Including taxes, this figure amounts to a gross total of 37.68 crores. Additionally, the film has earned 7.50 crores gross in the overseas market. Combining the Indian and overseas earnings, the Vijay Sethupathi starrer has reached a worldwide gross of 45.18 crores.

On Track to Join the 100 Crore Club?

With “Maharaja” poised to cross the 50 crores gross mark by today or tomorrow, the film is well on its way to targeting the 100 crore club. This milestone will mark another significant achievement for Vijay Sethupathi and the Kollywood industry, further cementing their success at the box office.
