Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par Faces Delay: Christmas 2024 Release Unlikely. The much-anticipated Christmas 2024 movie line-up has undergone a significant change with the likely delay of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par. This shift leaves Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King as the primary release for the holiday season, set to premiere on December 20, 2024. With this development, the competition for the Christmas weekend is easing, much to the delight of Mufasa fans.

Delay in Release

Reports from Peeping Moon indicate that director R.S. Prasanna may not complete the sports comedy in time for its planned Christmas release. While the producers have not made an official announcement, rumors suggest the film will not be ready by December. Aamir Khan, known for his perfectionist approach, is reportedly very pleased with the film’s progress but wants to ensure it meets his high standards before release. An insider claims that Sitaare Zameen Par will experience at least a three-month delay.

Adding to the speculation, Jio Studios, which is also producing Sitaare Zameen Par, plans to release Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan, on December 25, 2024—the same highly anticipated Christmas weekend. This scheduling conflict further raises questions about the delay. Additionally, production issues have already delayed another major Bollywood release, Welcome to the Jungle, starring Akshay Kumar, making Aamir Khan’s film the second big Bollywood blockbuster to miss the Christmas schedule.

Plot and Cast

Sitaare Zameen Par is an adaptation of the acclaimed Spanish film Campeones. The story follows an ostentatious and self-absorbed basketball coach who is tasked with building a Special Olympics team comprised of intellectually handicapped athletes as part of his community service. The film follows a traditional plot arc, with Aamir Khan’s character undergoing significant personal growth as he learns from his experiences and rethinks what it means to be “normal.”

The film’s cast includes real-life athletes with disabilities, adding a layer of authenticity to the narrative. Genelia Deshmukh stars as the female lead, further enhancing the story’s realism.

In the meantime, audiences can look forward to Mufasa: The Lion King leading the Christmas 2024 box office, with Baby John also adding to the festive cheer.
