Adipurush – the word that’s been everywhere on the internet for the past month. First, because of the anticipation that it created with its posters and trailer. Then, after its release, the trolls slowly started creeping in and now Adipurush is nothing but a disaster. Twitter is flooding with everything they found inappropriate with the movie.
It’s a disappointment that first, they delayed the release from January to June for ‘improving’ the VFX work. If the VFX is so terrible in the June version, it would definitely look like hand-drawn cartoon in the January one. There’s a long list of errors in the movie and Om Raut is going to be bashed left and right for his innovation. He is the perfect example of ‘mission failed successfully’.
Firstly, there is scene where Sita is on the battlefield, a knife held against her throat. There is no mention of such a scene in Ramayana. A fan says, “After watching visuals coming out of #Adipurush , My respect for Ramananda sagae has gone up 100x, 26 years ago, without any technology and limited resources, he created magic, absolute magic which even after so many years remains unmatched.” The Ravan role played by Saif Ali Khan is utterly screwed up. 5 of his heads are below while the remaining are on top. Moreover, he’s given the modern crease-cut hairstyle which has become a meme material. This ‘creativity’ has upset the fans because they have altered the original depictions of Ramayanam. The audience is comparing a 600cr budget movie with games like PubG, stating they did a better job. People were sleeping in the theatre, the script is awful, 3rd class.
It is clear that movie director Om Raut‘s complete focus was on the poster, the trailer and selecting ultra famous actors to keep the audience engaged. He paid no attention to interpreting Ramayana, it was just a cheap move to bring fans to the theatres with all the hype. Adding a beard to Ravan, giving Ramadu a mustache and adding unnecessary ‘graphics’ is the perfect example of how technology can ruin even the simplest of things.
