Rumors are coming out that the creators of the Maidaan movie will be pushing the date of release. It may not release on June 23.
The box office successes of the Hollywood cartoon feature Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse and the Vicky Kaushal-Sara Ali Khan movie Zara Hatke Zara Bachke have helped the month of June get off to a great start. All eyes were now focused on the month’s anticipated Hindi releases, including potential hits Adipurush, Maidaan, and Satyaprem Ki Katha. Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, and Satyaprem Ki Katha, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, will open in theatres on June 16 and June 29, respectively, as scheduled, but Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn and Maidaan, won’t be showing on June 23.
According to a source, “It was evident to many that Maidaan has been pushed ahead since the trailer or any other asset of the film wasn’t out though less than 20 days are left for June 23. The makers of the film are now looking at a new release date and hope to announce it very soon.” Interestingly, Maidaan’s release dates have been changed multiple times. Its earlier release dates were November 27, 2020, December 11, 2020, August 13, 2021, October 15, 2021, June 3, 2022, February 17, 2022, and May 12, 2022.
As a result of Maidaan’s cancellation, 1920: Horrors Of The Heart has snagged the June 23 date. Vikram Bhatt is the film’s producer; his daughter Krishna Bhatt is in charge of directing; and Mahesh Bhatt and Anand Pandit are in charge of presenting. Along with Rahul Dev, Barkha Bisht, and Avika Gor of ‘Balika Vadhu’ fame, they all appear in it. Maidaan also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in addition to Ajay Devgn. It is centred on the heyday of Indian football (1952–1962) and was directed by Amit Sharma. In this movie, which is produced by Boney Kapoor and Zed Studios and has music by A R Rahman, Ajay portrays Syed Abdul Rahim, an experienced Indian coach.
