Rhea Chakraborty, a name that has been under intense media scrutiny since the tragic death of her former partner, Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR), recently opened up about her marriage plans. Rhea, who is currently 32, expressed that she is not ready for marriage yet. She emphasized that she has many professional goals she wants to achieve before considering settling down. “I’m 32 and I don’t think I’m ready yet because I want to do a lot of things in my professional life,” she said. This statement reflects her desire to prioritize her career over societal expectations.

The actress also highlighted the disparity in societal pressures between men and women when it comes to marriage. She pointed out that men do not face the same urgency due to the biological clock, which often pressures women into making life-altering decisions prematurely. “Why should this be a pressure on you only? Men don’t feel this pressure. Because of the biological clock,” Rhea remarked.

Rhea’s perspective on marriage is shaped by her observations of her friends’ lives. She noted that many of her female friends got married or had children in their 40s and are thriving. This has influenced her belief that there is no “right age” for marriage. “First of all, there is no right age for marriage,” she asserted. Rhea’s stance challenges the traditional narrative that dictates a fixed timeline for marriage and encourages women to follow their own paths.

In the interview, Rhea also touched upon the importance of personal agency in marriage. She expressed her reluctance to be in a situation where she would need to seek her husband’s permission for her actions. “I don’t want to go to a court of law for one more thing. Do I take permission from there on whom to get married? I go for my passport, I don’t want to go for this,” she explained. This sentiment underscores her desire for independence and self-determination.

Rhea’s reflections on marriage come after a tumultuous period in her life following SSR’s death in 2020. She faced severe backlash and legal battles, which undoubtedly impacted her views on relationships and marriage. Despite the challenges, Rhea is now reportedly dating entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath, but she remains focused on her career and personal growth.
