Strategic Blunder?

Puri Jagannadh and Vijay Deverakonda came together to make the film Liger. The duo have targeted the pan-India image and have very high film expectations. That’s the reason the promotions were done more in the Hindi belt rather than the Telugu or south Indian markets. The team has completely focussed on the Hindi audience but did they make a strategic blunder here? As the movie is releasing in Hindi a day delayed than the other markets, which, the trade experts think, is definitely a wrong step from the movie team. On Thursday, i.e, on the 25th of August, Liger will have only night premieres in the North circle. This is not an ideal case for a pan-Indian release, say the pundits. No matter how many promotional events did the Liger team attend, the craze is not up to the mark.

The advance booking of the film is very weak. If the reports are to be believed, Liger might see an opening day collection of just around Rs 2 Crores to Rs 4 Crores, which is very meagre for a film of this budget. Puri, who has trusted the movie with all his property, is fearing the boycott calls in Bollywood which might show a considerable effect on Liger. The movie team is trusting their story to come on top of all the obstacles and emerge a winner. Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey are the lead pair of the film while Ramya Krishnan plays the role of the mother of the protagonist. Fighting legend Mike Tyson will be seen in a key role in the climax, which is the high point of the film, says the Liger team.
