50 years strong with Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan – Shweta Bachchan’s upload proves to us why

On this blockbuster height-gap Bollywood couple’s 50th anniversary, let’s know the entire timeline of their relationship – starting from their initial interactions to their confession to when they exchanged rings and made it official.

Typically, attraction towards an already-famous celebrity by a budding artist is common. But this time, the roles reversed. Jaya Bhaduri – Mrs. Bachchan’s maiden name – saw Amitabh Bachchan for the very first time when he was a struggling actor. He was present at Pune Film Institute with a renowned filmmaker K. Abbas when they first met. There’s absolutely nothing that happened between the two, but the spark had already ignited itself in Jaya’s mind about his personality.

A proper interaction happened between them on the sets of their movie Guddi. Before that, Amitabh happened to see Jaya Bhaduri on the cover page of a magazine when he truly noticed her. By the time they were shooting for Ek Nazar, it was no secret that Jaya had developed increasingly intense feelings for Bachchan and gradually he did too. It was the original ‘she fell first but he fell harder’ chemistry.

How their wedding came to be wasn’t a one-way route. It was a plot twist nobody expected. Amit Ji’s friends wanted him to fly to London with Jaya if his movie Zanjeer (1973) became a hit, to which his parents didn’t agree because they weren’t officially spouses. So, instead of canceling the trip, he decided to make it official with the one and only, Jaya Bhaduri.

From there to here, 50 years later, Shweta Bachchan says, “Happy 50th parents ~ now you’re “Golden” once on being asked what the secret to a long marriage is, my mother answered – love, and I think my fathers was – the wife is always right. That’s the long & short of it!!”\
