Filmmaker and producer Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies is all gearing up to release in December. The director actively promotes the film and previews it at film festivals before its official release.
The director opened up about shooting with Gen Z actors and introducing them to the industry, which made her realize a few things that instantly made her think she was old. The Archies cast Agastya Nanda, Kushi Kapoor, Mihir Arora, Vedang Raina, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, and Dot.
Zoya recalls working with these young, up-and-coming stars. She says Betty, played by Kushi Kapoor, has to pick up the needle and put it in the vinyl, but she puts it in the centre. When the director questions what she is doing, Kushi responds, ” Is that where the music comes from? ” This shows how young they are, as they don’t know about vinyl recordings.
She also recalled how Agastyahad, who had to pick up the phone and dial, asked, “Do I dial first, then pick up?” To which she answered no and asked if he hadn’t seen them in any movies, and he said no, making her realize these are all like stunts for Gen Z kids.
Zoya Akhtar talked about launching the new generation and how excited even the cast are about their first film, The Archies, which will premiere on Netflix on December 7.
