Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle Set Got Damaged

Akshay Kumar is all set to return to the popular Welcome franchise in its third installment, “Welcome to the Jungle.” The official announcement for this highly anticipated film was made last year, in 2023. Since then, the shooting has been progressing in full swing. However, the production has recently encountered an unexpected setback.

The grand set of this multi-starrer comedy, meticulously crafted for the shooting, was partially damaged due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai. This unforeseen event has caused a temporary halt in filming, as revealed by the film’s director, Ahmed Khan. Despite this obstacle, the team is determined to resume work as soon as the set is reconstructed.

Set Damage and Delay in Filming

The heavy rainfall in Mumbai resulted in significant damage to the elaborate set designed for the movie. The set, which had been prepared ahead of a marathon shooting schedule in the first week of August 2024. Suffered partial damage, causing a delay in the filming process. The cast, consisting of 34 actors including Akshay Kumar, was ready to feature in this crucial schedule, which also included the shooting of a song. Director Ahmed Khan expressed his regret over the situation and emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality of the set for the film. In a recent statement, he assured that the crew is working diligently to rebuild the set, and filming will resume once the reconstruction is complete.

Director Ahmed Khan’s Response

Director Ahmed Khan reflected on the unfortunate incident and shared his decision to wait for the set’s reconstruction before resuming filming. He stated, “It is unfortunate that a portion of the set got damaged due to the heavy rainfall in Mumbai. So, as a creative call, I have decided to begin the shoot once the set is reconstructed. The crew is endlessly working on rebuilding the set, and hopefully, we will begin the shoot soon.”

The announcement video of “Welcome to the Jungle” in 2023 provided a glimpse of the entertainment. Featuring the cast performing a cappella. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his film “Khel Khel Mein.” Which is set to hit theaters on August 15.
