Alia comments on Nepotism and accepts that it was easier for her to get through

In response to the discussion of privilege and nepotism, Alia Bhatt stated that she realises it and never takes her work for granted. The subject of nepotism has brought the actor a lot of unfavourable attention in the past.

The actor has discussed nepotism in response to debates before, including this one. Alia, the daughter of actor Soni Razdan and film director Mahesh Bhatt, claimed in a previous interview that she didn’t get her big break due of her parents but rather after trying out for Karan Johar. Alongside Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, Alia made her acting debut in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year in 2012.

In a recent interview, Alia spoke candidly on the prevalence of privilege and nepotism in the industry, stating that the topic had been brought up frequently. The short version is that I understand. I am aware that I may have had an advantage over the next individual in getting through the door. And when I contrast my dreams with those of others, I find that no dream is greater, smaller, or more passionate. The aspirations and desires of each person are the same. So I absolutely comprehend the context of that dialogue.

All I can say is that I recognise how fortunate I am to have had that head start. I recognise that I do enjoy that advantage, which motivates me to always give my all and to never take anything I do for granted. I can only continue to put in effort and keep my head down.
