All We Imagine as Light: Payal Kapadia Cannes award winning film is set to open at this years MAMI Film Festival.

Payal Kapadia’s directorial All We Imagine as Light had premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on 23 May 2024 and won the prestigious Grand Prix award.  It was the first film from India to compete in the main competition since 1994.

The film follows two Malayali nurses, Prabha and Anu , who are troubled by their personal relationships will embark on a road trip to a beach town where the mystical forest becomes a space for their dreams to manifest.

The drama film ensemble cast includes Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, Azees Nedumangad, Tintumol Joseph and Hridhu Haroon.

The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival is organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image, which was founded by a group of Indian film industry stalwarts in 1997 and was created with the aim to “engage film lovers from all walks of life, and to foster an ideal climate of good cinema across the country by presenting the best of global and Indian cinema”.

The  MAMI Academy’s stated vision is to celebrate cinema by hosting the annual international film festival in Mumbai, widely regarded as India’s film and entertainment capital.

The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023 introduced the South Asia Competition, inviting films from filmmakers of South Asia with the exception of Pakistan and the South Asian diaspora.

The much anticipated film festival is scheduled between 19 to 24 October 2024.It is reported that MAMI Film Festival 2024 will showcase 110plus feature films from over 45 countries as part of the official selection.

MAMI – Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image is chaired by Indian- American actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and aims to support independent south Asian filmmakers.
