Amar Kaushik Addresses Comparisons of Stree 2 with Stranger Things and Harry Potter

Amar Kaushik Addresses Comparisons of Stree 2 with Stranger Things and Harry Potter. Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, has achieved remarkable success, crossing the Rs. 500 crore mark at the box office. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the film has captivated audiences with its unique blend of horror and comedy. However, it has also faced comparisons to popular franchises like Stranger Things and Harry Potter, particularly regarding its poster and climax scenes.

Poster Comparisons with Stranger Things 2

Upon the release of the Stree 2 poster, fans quickly noticed its resemblance to the Stranger Things 2 poster. The similarities in color scheme, layout, and overall design led to speculation that the Stree 2 team had intentionally copied the popular Netflix series. Addressing these claims, Amar Kaushik clarified that the similarities were purely coincidental. “The intention was not to copy. It was coincidental. Had I known, I would have avoided it,” he explained. Kaushik emphasized that the team did not realize the resemblance until netizens pointed it out. They had simply liked the design presented to them and decided to use it.

Climax Comparisons with Stranger Things and Harry Potter

The comparisons did not stop at the poster. After the film’s release, the climax scene of Stree 2 was said to be loosely based on elements from Stranger Things and Harry Potter. Kaushik addressed these claims by highlighting the cultural roots of the climax scene. “Vicky having to show his goodness to remove the sword was a very natural move for us,” he said. He explained that, similar to the original film, it was the innocence in Vicky’s eyes that helped him fight Stree. “Technically, Raj (Rajkummar Rao) has no superpower in this movie. His kindness and innocence are his superpowers. That was the idea,” Kaushik shared.

Regarding the comparisons to Harry Potter, Kaushik admitted that he had not watched the franchise. However, he mentioned that his team, who are avid followers of Harry Potter, kept advising him to ensure that the film did not unintentionally mimic any scenes from the series. This collaborative effort helped shape the climax of Stree 2, ensuring it remained original while resonating with the audience.

Amar Kaushik Addresses Comparisons: Despite the comparisons, Stree 2 has proven to be a significant success, both critically and commercially. Amar Kaushik’s clarifications on the poster and climax similarities highlight the importance of originality and cultural context in filmmaking.
