Anupam Kher Reports Burglary at His Mumbai Office

Veteran actor Anupam Kher took to his X account on Thursday to share the unsettling news that his Mumbai office had been burgled. In his post, Kher revealed that thieves had broken into his Veera Desai Road office and made off with a safe containing cash and negatives of an unreleased film produced by his company. The incident has prompted the actor to file a First Information Report (FIR) with the police.

Kher shared a video on his social media account, accompanied by a caption in Hindi, detailing the incident. “Last night, at my Veera Desai Road office, two thieves broke in and stole a safe from the accounts office (because they couldn’t break open the safe). It had negatives of a film my company had shot. My office has filed an FIR and the police has assured us that the thieves would get caught very soon because the CCTV camera has captured them leaving with all the stuff in an autorickshaw. May god give them better sense. This is the video shot by my team before the police arrived,” Kher wrote. He also tagged the official X handle of the Mumbai Police.

Details of the Burglary

According to a report by PTI, the police confirmed that the burglars also took ₹4.15 lakh stored in the safe. The theft was discovered around 9:45 AM on Thursday when the office staff arrived and found the locks broken. The First Information Report was registered at the Amboli police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation is currently underway.

The CCTV footage captured the burglars leaving the premises with the stolen items in an autorickshaw, which the police believe will be crucial in apprehending the culprits. Kher expressed hope that the police would catch the thieves soon and recover the stolen property.

Anupam Kher’s Upcoming Projects

Despite this unfortunate incident, Anupam Kher remains focused on his professional commitments. The actor announced earlier this year that he would be directing a film titled “Tanvi The Great.” He shared this announcement on his birthday, March 7, with an Instagram post that read, “TANVI THE GREAT: Today, on my birthday I proudly announce the name of the film I have decided to direct. Some stories find their path and compel you to share it with the world! And the best way I thought to start is by taking the blessings of my mother in her temple with my father’s pic blessing me too.”

Kher has been working on this musical story of passion, courage, innocence, and joy for the past three years and began shooting on Mahashivratri. Alongside this project, Kher’s upcoming films include “The Signature,” “Emergency,” “Vijay 69,” and “The Curse of Damyaan.”
