Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestant Manisha Rani’s past will leave you shattered

Manisha Rani is a social media celebrity that has recently come to the limelight due to her jolly, mischievous presence in Bigg Boss OTT 2. But, there’s so much behind that smile that we didn’t know about. Thanks to Siddharth Kannan for conducting an interview with her and bringing to us the truth of her life.

Manisha Rani comes from a tiny village named Munger in Bihar, where dancers were considered ‘Nachaniya’ (a derogatory term used for girls who used to dance in the king’s court in the olden days) and the concept of earning big money didn’t exist. But, Manisha didn’t want to settle. Because of relatives’ pressure, she had to quit dancing but soon after, she eloped to Kolkata alone at a tender, teen age.

Living in Kolkata was another story of pain altogether. To pay even a grand for her living space, she had to work as waitress in marriages and dance in local wedding ceremonies. This one time, she was so past her rent due date that she received an eviction warning from the landlord. In desperate need of money, she was ready to do whatever it took. A random guy who offered her 500 a day for dancing took her to a different state and made her dance in bold, uncomfortable clothes alongside other women, rice with pebbles in it, and floor just roughly smeared with mud. But, when it was to get paid, he asked her to dance for 2 more shows which she didn’t want to do. He locked her in a room, threatening her that she’ll have to leave without money if she refused to dance.

Manisha Rani, who just needed an escape, left immediately and somehow reached back to Kolkata. After that, during COVID-19 when she returned home, she started making random, funny reels on TikTok. One day, her reel went viral with 1 million views. That was Manisha Rani’s day of success. From there till here, she has 4 million followers but still chooses to live an inexpensive lifestyle.

“My father barely earns 15 to 20 thousand but I have reached a position where one post can earn me 45 thousand rupees. I live in a simple, 20 grand rented flat and new photographers often ask me why I don’t buy a house or a car. I tell them that I will never be happy driving a luxurious car if I’m not able to take care of my family back in Bihar. To send money to papa and my siblings gives me the happiness nothing else can.”
