Brahmastra, A Wasted Golden Chance?

Amongst all the chaos and flops in Bollywood, the filmmakers of B-Town looked up to Brahmastra as a ray of hope in the dwindling industry. Ayan Mukherjee had worked on the concept of Brahmastra for years and finally, all that hard work was released today. i.e, on September 9th. The film is being lambasted by many reviewers and audiences on social media for its lacklustre screenplay. The cast and their performances, and the visual effects are the bright points in an otherwise gloomy film. Cine observers are opining that Ayan had wasted a golden opportunity to establish a proper Indian franchise that can give the Hollywood big franchises a run.

The plot point Ayan conceived is an excellent concept that, if transcended effectively onto the silver screen, would have done wonders. The budget, star cast, hype.. whatnot, everything was at the disposal of Ayan and all he had to do was make the film intriguing with a tight screenplay. This is where he seemingly faltered. Cinephiles are discussing that the film would have been completely different if SS Rajamouli was in the place of Ayan. Anyway, now the result seems to be average and considering the budget, one can only see it moving towards a financial disaster case. It’s not easy to recover Hundreds of Crores with just average talk unless the movie picks up again as the days go by. We have to wait and see the fate of this magnum opus.
