CBFC censors ‘Ghapa Ghap’ slang for one song but not another: Which ones are those?

In a biopic filmed on Sanjay Dutt, casting Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, there was a famous dialogue by Kamli as Vicky Kaushal, “Ghee che toh ghapa ghap che”. Launched in 2018, this dialogue was a direct slang for s*x which was approved by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), clearing the film with a U/A certificate.

Briefly, the CBFC is a board of ministers reviewing films and disapproving of scenes that may be inappropriate/controversial under the provisions of the Cinematograph Act 1952. However, sometimes we witness judgements that are not equal for all productions.

Like, in Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma’s Jogira Sara Ra Ra, there were 7 cuts before allowing it for a U/A certificate. The word ‘Ghapa Ghap’ was also censored, unlike in Sanju, justifying it with ‘it’s a dialogue between a brother and a sister’.

There have been several instances where there were loopholes in the reviewing process done by the CBFC. It’s obvious now that a lot of controversial objections will be raised against this ‘Ghapa Ghap’ decision, especially because Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an underrated actor and not a product of nepotism, his fans will definitely turn around to call this a pure case of partiality.

About this blockbuster Bollywood upcoming movie, Jogira Sara Ra Ra was scheduled to release on May 12, but due to multiple releases, it has been extended to May 26.
