Chris Evans shares REAL story of his role in Deadpool & Wolverine

Those who watched Deadpool & Wolverine over the weekend were treated to a surprising cameo. Chris Evans reprised his Marvel role, but not as Captain America. Instead, he appeared as Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch, from the Fantastic Four. This unexpected appearance in the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-led MCU film left fans buzzing.

Ryan Reynolds’ Personal Invitation

In a recent interview, Chris Evans shared that Ryan Reynolds personally reached out to ask if he would be interested in returning to his Fantastic Four role. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Evans recounted, “Ryan’s a buddy. He just shot me a text saying, ‘Listen, might be a long shot, but would you have any interest in reprising something from 20 years ago?’ I said, ‘Oh my God! Of course.’” This friendly request was all it took for Evans to agree to the cameo.

Trust in Ryan Reynolds’ Vision

Evans expressed that he agreed to the cameo because of his trust in Reynolds’ unique approach to humor and storytelling. He noted, “Honestly, Ryan might be the only guy that I would’ve done it for because he’s just got the Midas touch. His self-awareness makes him almost invincible. He makes the joke before the audience gets a chance to make the joke, so if you’re going to revisit a character and you have to find a way to make it work, Ryan’s humor makes just about everything work, so you feel an automatic sense of safety.” This confidence in Reynolds’ vision made Evans feel comfortable revisiting his old character.

Memorable Cameos and Hilarious Moments

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Evans’ Johnny Storm appeared in the Void, joining Deadpool and Wolverine on their mission to return to TVA. However, his extended cameo ended in a hilariously bloody fashion. The film also featured other notable cameos from Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, Dafne Keen, and Channing Tatum, adding to its appeal and humor.

Box Office Success

Deadpool & Wolverine has been a massive hit with fans and set new box office records. The film has collected an impressive $205 million in the US alone. With a reported budget of $200 million before prints and advertising, the movie has grossed $438.3 million worldwide. This financial success underscores the film’s popularity and the excitement generated by its star-studded cast and unexpected cameos.
