As everyone expected, Karthikeya 2 opened to superb openings in the Telugu states even while facing the theatre’s shortage. Being the sequel to the superhit Karthikeya film, the audience and cinephiles were very sure of the film’s content. Teasers and trailers too, have hyped up the movie and the final output on the silver screen definitely lived up to the hype. The film is running with packed houses everywhere. But, the problems created by some distributors by not providing the necessary screens is making some dents in the collections, says the trade sources. Anyway, the film is already declared to be a blockbuster. In most places, the distributors will see the break-even by Monday.
As for the collections on the second day, Nizam-1.35 cr, Vizag-48 lakhs, East Godavari-29 Lakhs, West Godavari-25 Lakhs, Krishna-30 Lakhs, Guntur-30 Lakhs, Nellore-10 Lakhs, Ceded-65 Lakhs. On the other hand, the film has an excellent word of mouth in the Hindi belt. Even though the film was released on just 60 screens in the North, now the screens are bulged up to 300 as per the demands from the audience. Hindi trade pundits are predicting that the film could be possibly running on 1000 screens by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow if the current positive word of mouth grows. As the producers are the same as Kashmir Files, there is that added positive vibe to the movie. Karthikeya 2 might finish as another standout pan-Indian film in the Hindi belt by the end of its theatrical run, opines the trade analysts.
