Not always do the big ticket cinemas do justice to the ticket price. Sometimes, small movies transcend boundaries and create sensations. Karthikeya 2 comes under the latter category. The film has grossed over Rs 75 Crores worldwide and is fast running towards a Rs 100 Crore mark. It all depends on Liger’s result if the Karthikeya 2 will hit the century crores mark or not. Irrespective of the end result of the film, it’s already a very successful venture for the distributors. As for the USA market too, Nikhil’s movie has crossed one million dollars successfully. On the other hand, Dulquer Salman starrer Sitaramam too has grossed a total of $1,237,972 and has become a cash cow for the distributors. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, the film has Mrunal Thakur pairing against Dulquer. Both Karthikeya 2 and SitaRamam are being lauded as jackpots for distributors. While Sitaramam has almost slowed up in many centers, it’s interesting that Karthikeya is still ramping up the tempo, especially in the Hindi belt.
The film was released on a meager 50 screens in the beginning and now is playing on more than 2000 screens in the North and there is every chance that the screen count might increase as there is no proper Bollywood movie to give it a tough fight. This Nikhil movie has dominated the B-Town stars like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar movies Lalsingh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan respectively.
