Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language romantic period action drama film directed by Anil Sharma.
The film is based on the life of Boota Singh, the film stars Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel in lead roles alongside Amrish Puri and Lillete Dubey. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha had a global cinema release on 15 June 2001.
it grossed over ₹768.8 million net in India and ₹1.33 billion worldwide with a distributor share of ₹546 million (US$11.57 million), and went on to emerge as the highest-grossing Hindi film.
The plot of the film is set during the Partition of India, the film tells the story of a truck driver, Tara Singh, a Sikh, who falls in love with a Muslim girl, Sakina ” Sakku” Ali, belonging to an aristocratic family.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha was Re-Released in Theatres on 9 June 2023 for a limited period. It has been remastered in a 4K version and Dolby Atmos along with an extended uncut version.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha collected Rs 1.30 crores nett in its re-release weekend. The film opened with Rs 30 lakhs, then grew over the weekend, collecting over Rs 45 lakhs and Rs 55 lakhs on its second and third day.
