Godfather, Where is the Craze?

After the mega disappointment with Acharya, Megastar Chiranjeevi is coming back with Godfather. As he himself had admitted in the pre-release event, he is badly looking for a blockbuster that can prove that he is still the number one Tollywood. As a matter of fact, Chiru was unable to prove his stamina after coming back from politics. Khaidi no 150 was not up to the mark in terms of craze. The latter movies like Sye Raa, and Acharya only proved that Megastar’s charm is on the wane. That is the reason the senior pro needs a solid blockbuster to get back to the number one place in which he stood for more than two decades and ruled the Telugu film industry.

But, in that urge of scoring a hit or in the fear of facing a disaster, Chiru is opting for the safer way of remakes. But instead of helping him, remakes are becoming the drawbacks to him. For instance, Thalapathy’s Katthi was seen by a lot of people, and even those who didn’t see had read the story on the net once they came to know that Chiru is remaking it. As a result, the movie didn’t have much impact on the audience as much as it is expected from a comeback film of a megastar. Now, Godfather is facing the exact scenario. Lucifer was advertised in the Amazon Prime Video so much that many Telugu audiences have already watched it even before the megastar decided to remake it. As a result, Godfather is not generating any buzz either in trade circles or in fans. Because of this negative vibe and of course the result of Acharya as well, distributors are reluctant to take the film. The producers themselves are releasing the movie in many of areas. Chiru has one more remake ahead in the form of Bhola Shankar. Directed by Meher Ramesh, it is the remake of Ajith’s Vedhalam. Fans are praying to Chiru that he should stay away from remakes and concentrate on the original ideas and stories. That’s a genuine request. But will the star pay heed to it?
