As National Award-winning and melody queen Shreya Ghoshal turned 39 on Sunday, all the film industries across the globe along with the movie buffs took to Twitter to wish the “melodious” and “dearest” artiste a “very happy birthday”. The melodic diva started her singing journey at the age of 4, and today, she is one of the highest-paid singers in the industry. She never fails to create magic with her voice, let us check some interesting facts about the singer :
She started singing at age 4. Her mother was her guru then and her first onstage performance was at their club’s annual function.
From the age of six, Shreya started her formal training in classical music. She acquired training from Padmashree Late Kalyanji Bhai and Late Mukta Bhideji.
Initially, she enrolled herself in Atomic Energy Junior College to complete her graduation. Science was her main subject then. But destiny had something else in store for Shreya. As she realized that science is not what she wants to do. She then opted out of Atomic Energy Junior College to pursue her dream of becoming a playback singer in Bollywood. She then studied arts at SIES College, Sion.
Shreya is a participant in the Sa Re Ga Ma program. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mother Leela watched her during the 75th children’s special episode of Sa Re Ga Ma. It was she who advised the filmmaker to give Shreya a chance as a playback singer. At the behest of her mother, Bhansali called Shreya and asked her to sing ‘Bairi Piya’ with Udit Narayan.
Later she bagged many chances and was an obvious part of any Sanjay Leela Bansali film.
Soon Shreya became a favorite of all. Shreya has rendered songs in Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, and Bhojpuri languages also.
Shreya married childhood friend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyay on February 5, 2015. Shreya also has a son and is living an adorable life.
