Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a Hindi TV serial that is the longest in the history of Indian television. And, with time, the value only increased. It never turned boring for its viewers even after so many years of streaming. With more than 3000 episodes and millions of people that have laughed and felt hopeful because of it, it sadly stops at the on-screen life of the actors. In the green room, things are blacker than one would like to hear.
Recently, the news about TMKOC’s Mrs. Roshan Singh Sodhi – the real-life Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal – accusing the director and producer of the serial, Asit Modi, of sexual assault had grabbed the headlines. There were countless perspectives on that allegation from other co-actors in the project.
In the latest interview ‘Baatein Unkahee’ (the untold words) by Pinkvilla, Jennifer Mistry goes on for 45 minutes about the brutal truth behind TMKOC shoots. Outside sexual harassment, she has also been put through emotionally difficult situations that took a lot from her to overcome. The video has time punches discussing the sexual harassment case, accusations against Asit Modi and team, disputes on the set, police investigation, and a few more.
Jennifer, through watery eyes, begins, “I was very close to my younger brother. I’m an empath so I would absorb his energies, whatever he was feeling. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t sleep. Luckily this time I went to Bombay 10 days after my brother’s demise. When my father passed, I was called back in 4 days. Asit Ji asked Sohail to pay me for the 7 days that I was absent and I touched his feet because my bank account was empty at the time.”
Giving out honest, unfiltered details of the incident, she continues, “Sohail kept taunting me rudely, ‘her brother died and we paid the money for it’. I was already suffering. I did not know how to live without my brother, his wife was pregnant with the 7th baby, there was so much going on.” “It’s my brother’s soul, Monika’s mother’s soul, Nattu Kaka’s soul, they have troubled him a lot as well, is doing all of this from above. Otherwise, it wasn’t possible for me to do this alone.”
On March 3rd, 2023, Sohail rudely screamed “Get out” to her on set after which she finally decided to quit TMKOC permanently.
