Kantara and RRR are some sensational films released last year. However, while later bagged multiple awards across the globe, the latter missed a chance.
When a popular media channel asked if RRR had had tremendous success at the international awards circuit, like the Golden Globes and Oscars and Hombale films also must be looking to make headway at these awards. Kantara producer Vijay’s answer came out as a surprise.
“Definitely! We tried to some extent with Kantara, but we had very limited time as the film was released on September 20. The RRR team had plenty of time, and they went all out to promote the film. We have to plan at least 6 months before the awards to ensure that the people (who vote) watch the film”, the producer said.
He added “Whether they vote or not is a different question, but we need to screen it for them so they can judge the film. We have done our homework and learnt our lesson this year. Going forward, we’ll be more equipped to take our movies to the Golden Globes or Oscars. We definitely want our movies to win some awards at the Golden Globes and Oscars. We wanted an award win for Kantara, but we had limited time”.
