Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda and Bollywood actress Ananya Panday’s Pan-India film Liger hits theatres today, August 25. Besides Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, former world heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson is seen making a cameo in the film.
Helmed by Puri Jagannadh, this sports-action film had a lot of promotions before the release. Also, in Bollywood this movie is presented by the famous Producer Karan Johar. However, same as some of the Bollywood’s past films, Liger also faced the Boycott trend to the core. A few section of audience, mainly late Sushanth Singh supporters trended the Hashtag #BoycottLiger as the film is presented by Karan.
Interestingly, all the films that faced this boycott trend recently bagged disasters. Continuing the same, Liger also got opened to negative reviews. Audiences who watched the film took to Twitter to express their disappointment and called Puri Jaganaddh’s direction as ‘lazy ‘, the film’s script as ‘weak’, and Ananya Panday’s acting as ‘dud’.
Despite heavy promotions, the audience called the film a ‘wasted opportunity’. So, it seems like Boycott trend sentiment is going to continue for the Liger as well. However, we have to say, will Liger satisfy at least some section of the audience to bag break-even.
