Janaganamana Officially Shelved?

Film Industry runs on success. Only on success. No one cares about a person with failures here. Even a star director with continuous hits will be neglected if his latest movie is a disaster. Koratala Siva’s case is an example. Now, Puri Jagannadh is facing a similar situation after Liger. He already has this reputation of an outdated director and he is proving it time and again with his average flicks. Except for Ismart Shankar, there are no blockbusters in Puri’s recent films. Even that, is considered to be a fluke hit by the industry experts and it was an idea directly lifted from the 2016 American film Criminal and the 2017 British film iBoy. The director had the guts to cover that he was ‘inspired’ by these movies instead of accepting that he had completely copied the idea. Now, his original idea Liger didn’t see even a marginal success of Ismart and is a complete disaster.

It is already known that Puri and Vijay Deverakonda were committed to making another film called Janaganamana which is in fact the director’s dream project. It has a huge budget of more than Rs 200 Crores which is a heavy amount for a producer to bankroll trusting someone like Puri. Even if they want to trust him, the debacle of Liger will be haunting them like a shadow which again is a risk. As a result, the producers, Vijay and Puri are said to have had a discussion and shelved the movie. While there is no official confirmation yet, the Tollywood sources are saying that the project might never get a nod and Puri should search for another actor if he had to pursue his dream project. It’s noteworthy that JGM was already rejected by Superstar Mahesh Babu. Puri might now have to concentrate on very low-budget movies instead of huge-budgeted flicks and make a comeback. Maybe, watching some Hollywood movie might help him again just like Ismart Shankar, says the cine pundits.
