Janhvi Kapoor Reflects on Paranoia

Janhvi Kapoor, the elder daughter of iconic actor Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor, has often shared glimpses into her journey of healing from the loss of her mother in 2018. Sridevi passed away just days before the release of Janhvi’s debut film, Dhadak. In a candid conversation on The Ranveer Show, Janhvi opened up about her childhood paranoia and how it has impacted her life.

Childhood Paranoia of Losing Parents

Janhvi revealed that she had always harbored a fear of losing her parents, even as a child. She recounted, “It’s so funny that I always had a paranoia of losing my parents, even at that time (childhood). Every time they’d go late at night for an event or travel for more than a day without me… Small things like they’re shopping at duty-free (stores at the airport) and I’m left with the nanny, I was always like, ‘I don’t know if they’re going to make the flight, I don’t know if they’re going to come back home.’” She described how this anxiety would lead her to check on her parents, ensuring they were safe.

Current State of Mind

When asked if she still feels the same way, Janhvi reflected, “I don’t know. Maybe. I don’t think I’m anxiously attached to anyone right now. But yeah, there was a very significant paranoia. Which is ironic.” This insight into her emotional state highlights the lingering effects of her childhood fears.

Relationship with Father Boney Kapoor

Janhvi also touched upon the topic of taking care of ageing parents, a subject she feels isn’t discussed enough. She mentioned that she now sees her father as a kid and feels a borderline obsession with his well-being. This shift in her perspective underscores her deep sense of responsibility and care for her father.

Personal and Professional Journey

Born in 1997, Janhvi Kapoor has a younger sister, Khushi Kapoor, born in 2000. The sudden loss of their mother, Sridevi, days before Janhvi’s Bollywood debut with Shashank Khaitan’s 2018 romantic drama Dhadak, has profoundly influenced her. Janhvi has often expressed her longing for external validation from the audience and critics, as she could never know what her mother thought of her debut performance.

Upcoming Projects

Janhvi Kapoor continues to make strides in her acting career. She will be seen in the upcoming films Mr & Mrs Mahi, Devara: Part 1, Ulajh, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, and an untitled project with Suriya, marking her Tamil debut. She will also make her Telugu debut with Devara. Her recent appearance was in Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal, co-starring Varun Dhawan, which released last year.

Legacy of Strength

Janhvi Kapoor’s journey reflects resilience and strength as she navigates her personal losses and professional aspirations. Her openness about her fears and the ongoing process of healing serves as an inspiration to many who face similar struggles. As she continues to build her legacy in the film industry, Janhvi remains a testament to enduring through pain with grace and determination.
