Kangana Ranaut slams misogynistic trolls against Kamala Harris

After American President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race and endorsed Kamala Harris, numerous memes targeting Harris surfaced online. Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has spoken out in support of Kamala Harris, calling out the misogyny embedded in these memes. On her Instagram stories, Kangana shared a meme that likened Kamala to a ‘call girl,’ criticizing the sexist nature of such comparisons. Although Kangana does not support the Democrats, she expressed her disapproval of the misogyny Harris is facing. “Since Biden has endorsed Harris for POTUS…SM is full of such memes…I don’t support democrats but it’s amusing even in America an elderly woman politician who has been attorney general of California has to face sexism to this extent,” she wrote. Kangana also commented on how modern Americans consider themselves progressive yet display regressive attitudes worse than those in India.

Kangana Ranaut Calls Out Sonu Sood

Kangana Ranaut recently made headlines for calling out fellow actor Sonu Sood. Sonu faced backlash after defending a food vendor who was seen spitting on a customer’s food. Kangana shared a sarcastic comment on X (formerly Twitter), mocking Sonu’s justification of the act. “Next you know Sonu ji will direct his own Ramayana based on his own personal findings about God and religion. Wah kya baat hai Bollywood se ek aur Ramayana,” she wrote. Sonu had compared the vendor’s act to the mythological story of Lord Ram eating Shabri’s berries, describing the act of spitting as one of ‘Humanity’. This defense did not sit well with many, including Kangana, who found it highly inappropriate.

Kangana Ranaut’s Upcoming Projects

Kangana Ranaut, recently elected as the MP of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, is also focusing on her upcoming film Emergency. The film, in which Kangana portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is set to release on September 7 this year. Backed by Zee Studios, Emergency is produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana herself, with screenplay and dialogues by Ritesh Shah and music by Sanchit Balhara. Kangana continues to make waves both in her political and acting careers, proving her versatility and resilience.

Kangana Ranaut’s support for Kamala Harris highlights the ongoing issue of misogyny faced by women in politics. By calling out sexist behavior and standing up for fellow women, Kangana continues to use her platform to address important social issues. Her involvement in both political and entertainment spheres ensures she remains a prominent figure in public discourse.
