Kantara is a Kannada-language action thriller film written and directed by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under Hombale Films. Kantara was released on 30 September 2022 and received acclaim from critics, who praised the cast performances, direction, writing, production design, cinematography, proper showcasing of the Bhoota Kola, action sequences, editing, soundtrack, and musical score. The film was a huge commercial success and emerged as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time.
Sapthami Gowda played the leading lady, and she attracted the audience with her performance. This movie gained her good reputation and even got a chance in the upcoming movie Vaccine War directed by Kashmiri Files director Vivek Agnihotri. In a recent interview, Sapthami Gowda stated that with the help of Rishab Shetty Vivek Agnihotri approached her for the role in Vaccine War and she immediately signed up for this role.
The actress also said that entering Bollywood excites her and Vivek Agnihotri even helped her with the language. She also added that she is ready to perform in other languages as well but her first priority will always be the Kannada film industry.
