Kareena Kapoor Khan took to her socials to voice out on the Kolkata Doctor Case

Kareena Kapoor Khan took to her socials to voice out how women’s rights are violated and how they are still abused to this date. In a recent post, she took reference to the Nirbaya and Kolkata Doctor Case. “12 years later, the same story, the same protest. But we are still waiting”, shared the actress via Instagram.

The Kolkata rape case left citizens’ hearts wrenched across India. Violence against women happened in the past, in the present but hope not in the future. Previously Nirbaya passed away in a tragic death. The young woman was gang raped and killed, and the crime happened in a day. Unfortunately, society has become a place where an individual doesn’t think twice before committing a vicious act, but to do it right takes years, decades, and sometimes a lifetime. It took 12 years to punish the guilty for their acts. Yet, here we are again voicing our rights and safety when another fellow individual, a 31-year-old female, and a doctor depart us due to unfortunate events.

A female doctor who was on duty in Kolkata on 9th August was raped in the  RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, while the CBI took a trained boxer into custody as an accuser, reports suggest otherwise. It is reported that the CBI has arrested Sanjoy Roy, a civil volunteer, suggesting that he is one of the accused in the case. Sanjay Roy who is a trained boxer has a record of violence against women. One of the reports against him, suggests that he has abused his ex-wives previously.

Sanjay Roy is reported to have married 3-4 times in the past and his neighbors have reported that he was divorced as he continued to abuse his partner, eventually. Although Sanjay Roy could be a potential criminal in this case. The story takes a turn when the postmortem report comes out, suggesting 150 mg was found in the late life-saver body when the average in a male is around 0.5 to 15mg, which raises speculations if it was a gang rape. The campaigns are still on, and the key campaigner voices for justice for the 31-year-old doctor, who lost her life due to a few inhumane individuals, who have tortured her and killed her.
