Kartik Aaryan: Chandu Champion and Living with the ‘Outsider’ Tag

Actor Kartik Aaryan has come a long way since his Bollywood debut 13 years ago. Despite his success, the tag of being an outsider remains with him, a label he doesn’t mind embracing.

Kartik Aaryan made his debut in 2011 with Luv Ranjan’s “Pyaar Ka Punchnama” and has since cemented his place in the industry with notable projects such as “Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2,” “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety,” “Luka Chuppi,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,” and “Satyaprem Ki Katha.” His upcoming film, “Chandu Champion,” is eagerly awaited.

Embracing the Outsider Tag

Reflecting on his journey, Kartik admits that he had no connections in the film industry when he started and acknowledges that the outsider tag is still with him. “It is what it is,” he says, adding that his journey from the “outside world” to Bollywood is something he carries with pride. “Till date, I believe that any Friday can be a last Friday also. This is the echo that keeps on going in my mind,” Kartik shares, revealing the constant fear of his career coming to an abrupt end.

Kartik views his Bollywood journey as an open book, visible to all, from the lows to the highs. He proudly talks about being an outsider, saying, “Whoever has made it on his own should be really proud of it.” His journey, marked by perseverance and resilience, is something he celebrates openly.

Not Taking Success for Granted

Despite his success at the box office, Kartik remains grounded. “You cannot take success for granted,” he emphasizes. He admits to being superstitious about acknowledging his success and focuses on continuing his work without getting attached to hits or flops. “I’m just doing my job. I hope people continue to show their love and interest in what I’m doing,” Kartik notes.

Anticipation for Chandu Champion

Kartik is now looking forward to the release of “Chandu Champion,” directed by Kabir Khan. The film, based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming, has been a challenging yet fulfilling project for Kartik. “Working on the film has been very satisfying,” he shares, describing the experience as creatively fulfilling despite the physical challenges. “I was just so happy that I got to do the project,” Kartik beams with joy.

“Chandu Champion” tells the inspiring story of a sportsman’s resilience and determination. Kartik underwent a major physical transformation to portray Murlikant Petkar and is excited for the audience to see the film, slated for release on June 14. The film is jointly produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan.
