Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer review

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

A new Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer has arrived during the Super Bowl. The movie comes nearly seven years after the most recent instalment in the franchise, War for the Planet of the Apes, and is set 300 years after the events of that film.

During the Super Bowl, 20th Century Studios unveiled a new trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. It offers a further look at the villainous Proximus Caesar, indicating his drive to become a wise leader in his efforts to conquer the rest of the world for the apes, who are the dominant species living harmoniously, and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows.

Yes, humans — though they’ve been reduced to savages that the apes often enslave, there are signs that some humans are still showing intelligence and speech, such as Freya Allen’s character, Nova. The video also offers new details for Freya Allan’s Mae, who’s revealed to be a key target for Proximus as she holds the more profound knowledge he seeks.

The frequent use of space-related imagery in the new trailer could hint at another time-travel story for Mae, making it possible she’s eager to go back and stop the rise of the apes. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to hit the big screen on May 10. And that wasn’t the only trailer that dropped during the Super Bowl either, as we also got teasers for Deadpool 3, Twisters, and Wicked.
